Subject: Interesting artifact
This clip appears to be a fragment, especially in light of the description above. It's still worth a look for Life Of Riley fans. Our Chester is chosen over a jealous Gillis to be a Savings Bond canvasser. Riley is uncertain of his salesmanship, so he decides to practice--on Gillis!

The film gets off to very rocky start, playing more like a cast commercial than a lost episode. Marjorie Reynolds suffers in particular with weak lines she seems uncomfortable delivering. But things improve when Riley goes upstairs and begins his sales pitch. This film was definitely produced during the final season of Life Of Riley (ca. 1958), so Bendix and D'Andrea certainly knew their roles well enough to perform them with almost any material. Unfortunately, just as it really starts getting good, it ends. If there's more of this little film available to post, I hope somebody will do so.

My rating is perhaps a bit charitable; at least one star is given for the sake of its historical significance and rarity.
